I've Got 99 Problems But Dirty Brushes Ain't One....

Updated: Aug 21, 2019

If you have dirty brushes I feel bad for you hun....

How many times have you heard someone say that the secret to their gorgeous skin is to always wash off makeup before bed? It's a no brainer right? So why is it so hard for us to remember to clean the tools that we use to apply that makeup? It's always postponed to the next day, and the next until one day a thick film of cakey makeup glues the brush bristles together! Gross! Listen 'Linda', dirty brushes can be a breeding ground for bacteria, which can result in untimely and unwanted breakouts. No one wants to break out! So wash those tools! Now that I have your attention, its move on to how and how often you should clean your brushes and blenderful! My Blenderful Make Up Sponge is my everything. I use it for powder products, cream products, and to erase my oops moments when putting on makeup! It is so important that this tool stays clean! You want to deep clean with Clean Act before each use.... you're getting it wet anyways! Mine as well kill all the bacteria and not cause breakouts!

Have you ever looked at a quality makeup brush and thought that it was crazy expensive? That's because good ones are! But good ones will also last you a lifetime if taken care of correctly! So yes that brush is $50 but what's $50 spread over daily use of 20 years? Just saying! I deep clean my brushes at least once a week with Clean Act and spot clean after each use with a Make-Off Remover Wipe! I love Clean Act because the formula uses pure, chemical-free and vegan ingredients including Tea Tree Oil and Natural Coconut Oil to gently clean and sterilize my brushes. Bonus, it last F-O-R-E-V-E-R!

You can use a silicone brush pad, a cloth, or the palm of your hand to sud the Clean Act and break down the makeup to remove it from the bristles! I personally use my hand!

PRESSURE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!!! Please don't smash your brushes thinking you're cleaning them better. You're not!

When washing / rinsing your brushes, ALWAYS hold the brush with the bristles facing down! This is SO important! You most definitely don't want to dip your brush into a cup of water to rinse, it doesn't help! It actually deposits bacteria and product deeper into the brush head and can cause mold to grow 😳

If you don't have a fancy brush drying stand, roll a towel up a few times and lay the brush with the handle at the highest point, on the towel! This will allow the water to drip down.

You should NEVER use dish soap or hair shampoo to wash your tools.... because they will dry out the bristles causing breakage, and break down the glue holding the bristles in the ferrule! So, who's excited to get Clean Act and get to washing? Comment below!

xo, Carly
